Ali Rahbari to conduct Mariinsky Orchestra in Saint Petersburg
TEHRAN-Iranian maestro Ali Rahbari will conduct the Mariinsky Orchestra at Mariinsky Theater in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on October 27.
The renowned musician will conduct the Russian orchestra perform pieces by the Czech composer Antonín Leopold Dvořák and the Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, ILNA reported.
The Mariinsky Orchestra is one of the oldest and a leading symphony orchestra in Russia.
Rahbari was appointed by Valery Gergiev, the Artistic and General Director of the Mariinsky Theater, as the permanent guest conductor of the Mariinsky Orchestra last year and was set to conduct 10 performances at the venue, the first of which was done last July, when he performed his symphonic poem “Zarathustra Spitama” at the Mariinsky Theater as part of a repertoire, which also comprised pieces from the German composer Richard Strauss, Antonin Dvorak and several other renowned composers.
Rahbari has worked with more than 120 orchestras including Tehran Symphony Orchestra. He has previously held the position of permanent guest conductor in orchestras such as the Belgian Radio Television Philharmonic, the Czech Philharmonic, and the Belgrade Philharmonic. He has also been in charge of the artistic management of the symphony orchestras of Brussels, Malaga, Zagreb and Malaga.
Mariinsky Theater is one of top opera companies in the world. It has been the home of Russian ballet and opera since the 1860s and has become a mecca for both Russian and international artists.
It has splendid and elegant auditorium is richly decorated and is among the most beautiful in the world. Through its history, the stage of the theatre has seen opera masterpieces like “Swan Lake”, “Nutcracker”, and “Eugene Onegin” among others.
